Cromford ![]() A village in the valley of the Derwent, famous as the site of the first power-driven cotton mill. Cromford was a hamlet until then and its development into a village took place after the foundation of the mill in 1771. The Cromford Canal is now abandoned but its towpath provides a varied and perhaps solitary walk for 10 - 12 miles to the Butterley Tunnel.![]() Open: Every Day of the Year ![]() |
