Derwent

Derwent Reservoir was built in 1916, filling the dale for another 1.5 miles. The dam is of huge overflow and when the river is high it comes over the top in a splendid foaming, feathery blanket of white water. A road crosses below the dam which can be be easily approached. Anglers fish in the troubled race at the foot.
