Take a little time exploring All Saint's Church, one of the most impressive in the Peak. With the Church to your left and The George behind you, descend the lane towards Bradford. Keep left at the first junction and at the second (opposite Braemer House) turn left onto the path. Continue along this path with a wall to your left and River Bradford below, on your right, to the road.

Here, turn right and descend towards Alport, then right along the path, crossing the river Bradford. Continue along the riverside path, in a southwesterly direction, with the river to your right. In time, you pass a slightly overhanging and multi-pocketed crag on your left; this is Rheinstor, a training ground for rock-climbers, being low down and sheltered.

On meeting the minor road, turn left and walk up it - passing the Hallow Farm track - to a stile on your left. Cross this and follow the Limestone Way path, which crosses the fields (heading roughly southeast). A small lake can be seen, adjacent to Hallow Farm, to your left; your next objective is the hill fort of Castle Ring, visible ahead, as you cross the rather boggy ground at Bleakley Dike. Ascend, as the path becomes a green track, and continue around the hillside.

Castle Ring is to your left, and a path leads off and up to the site - a short (optional) detour may be made to visit the summit of the fort, if desired.![]()
Back on the Limestone Way track, continue to a fork; the track goes left to Harthill Moor Farm, but you now bear right along the path, heading in the direction of Tomlinson's Wood. Follow the path right, just before the trees, and continue alongside the wall to a stile. Cross this, and bear over the fields towards Bleakley Plantation. Head for the stile, cross it, and then turn left. Now walk over the fields to the plantation, where a signpost points the way.

From the edge of the plantation, continue ahead and descend to the minor road. Cross the road to the Hopping Farm path, and follow this to the farm. Follow the signposted footpath, and descend to the River Bradford.

Descend to the river carefully, particularly while negotiating the steps, which provide an entry into the dale. Cross the river - actually little more than a stream - and continue right, to the track through Bradford Dale.

Follow the riverside path to the stone bridge; cross this, and with the River Bradford now on your right; continue right, to Bradford.

On reaching the road, simply turn left and ascend the lane to All Saints' Church and the George Hotel.
