The path eventually comes out onto a road, which you walk up for about 100 yards. This is Mam Nick, which passes between Mam Tor on your left and Rushup Edge on your right. A gate on your left leads you up a paved pathway to the summit of Mam Tor.

Mam Tor is known locally as ' Shivering Mountain', its mud and grit shales are constantly crumbling. Traces of Bronze/Iron Age forts can still be found on the summit.![]()
A clear path from the summit of Mam Tor leads along the ridge to Hollins Cross. There is then a scramble up Back Tor which takes you to Lose Hill. There are excellent views most of the way with panorama plates to help with identification of features.

From the summit of Lose Hill take the path to the right leading downhill. Pass over two stiles then bare left downhill past a clump of trees to Losehill Farm, known locally as Crimera Farm. It is well worth a stop, particularly if you have children with you. There is a selection of rare breeds, plus young animals for the children to feed.

Go past the farm, taking the stile on your right. This will lead you towards Hope, which you can see in the valley below. Pass to the right of a barn and then keep the wall, then fence, to your left. Look for the stile in the fence, and then cut the corner of the next field to a stile by a large tree. Follow the fence over two more stiles, then bear to the left of a large tree (ignore the gate to the right).

The path leads past a bungalow. Pass through a gap stile, then through another stile and over a railway bridge. Go straight over three more fields and emerge in Hope by the village school. Turn left then right into the centre of the village.
